UNC try to distance themselves from Paria misinformation

Leader of the Opposition Kamla Persad Bissessar

The Ministry of Communications in a media release issued on Wednesday March 27th, 2019 stated that the attempt by the Opposition Leader to distance herself and the United National Congress (UNC) from being the genesis of the lies with respect to the sale of Paria Fuel Trading Company Limited (“Paria”) is another example of their blatant dishonesty.

It is the UNC that started spreading the false narrative that Paria had been sold to Simpson Oil Limited. This falsehood originated and was being distributed by UNC officials and activists who gave birth to the lie on social media. Wade Mark, UNC Leader of Opposition Business in the Senate was lying in wait to broadcast the lie in the Senate, even after the Government and Trinidad Petroleum Holdings Limited, the parent company of Paria, comprehensively refuted the mischievous lie that the company was sold to anyone.

As is to be expected the Leader of the Opposition is now joining in to clean up this false UNC messaging with another lie, i.e. saying that the UNC has nothing to do with starting and communicating this false information.

This continued behaviour by the UNC and Leader of the Opposition is denounced.
