January 22, 2015: Two schools, in southern Trinidad, were, on January 20th, 2015, declared officially opened by the Education Ministry.

Kanhai Presbyterian Primary School along with the St Mary’s Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) Centre in the Moruga /Tableland Constituency, were officially opened by Education Minister Dr Tim Gopeesingh.

Gopeesingh also visited the Gasparillo Secondary School, where he met with the President of the Trinidad and Tobago Unified Teachers’ Association (TTUTA) Devanand Sinanan, as well as school officials.

An issue was reported to the minister regarding the reassignment of MTS officers, mid-shift, which was disruptive to the school's operations.

Gopeesingh via a telephone conversation with MTS Executives stated his dissatisfaction with the situation and indicated that MTS desist from such practices immediately.

In addition, EFCL was instructed by Gopeesingh to immediately begin the process of erecting a 200M security fencing, to replace a damaged fence, as this posed a security threat to the school, its students and staff.
