Trinidad and Tobago to assist the Bahamas
Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley in today’s Post Cabinet Press Conference said that Trinidad and Tobago is very saddened with what happened to the citizens of Bahamas over the last 72 hours.
Dr. Rowley indicated that he has been in contact with the Bahamas Prime Minister Hubert Minnis who said that the country suffered a ‘generational devastation’. The Cabinet has agreed to provide the following immediately:
- 100 trained and disciplined manpower from the Defence Force;
- Seven (7) technical persons from T&TEC to assist in the restoration of power; and
- US 500,000 dollars to pay for expenses such as medical supplies.
Dr. Rowley said that the government will support both teams while they are in the Bahamas and that he will continue to stay in contact with the government of Bahamas to provide further assistance if necessary.
