Threats to National Security officers will not be tolerated

It has come to my attention that there is in circulation, a document purporting to be a confidential report authored by SORT which references possible threats to Prison Officers.

I have already spoken to both the Acting Commissioner of Prisons Mr. Dane Clarke and the Commissioner of Police Mr. Gary Griffith about the content of this report.

Threats of violence to any Prison Officer or any officer attached to any of the services under the Ministry of National Security will not be tolerated.

I have asked that an inter-agency approach be deployed to deal with this incident. This is being treated as a priority and resources are being deployed to deal with the threat.
Anyone found threatening any officer in any of the services under National Security will be dealt with by the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service as appropriate. Such illegal actions will not be tolerated and any perpetrators will face the full brunt of the law.

Stuart R. Young
Minister of National Security
