Student Support Services to counsel Success/Laventille students
The Honourable Anthony Garcia, Minister of Education today offers his condolences to the family, friends and teachers of Joshua James, a former student of the Success/Laventille Secondary School who was killed over the weekend. The Ministry of Education, through its Student Support Services Division officers, has commenced intervention and counselling for the classmates Joshua James as of today, Monday 11th June, 2018 and will be offering additional support to his family.
The Ministry of Education is focused on ensuring that even amidst this tragedy that all procedures and protocols are followed to ensure that students and teachers receive the necessary assistance and support needed to cope at this time. The principal and School Guidance Officers addressed the entire school population this morning to provide moral support and words of comfort to the students. Employee Assistance Programme officials are scheduled to visit the school today, to provide counselling for members of staff.
Minister Garcia added that “No life lost goes without impacting someone. However, a life lost so young leaves so many questions and thoughts on what could have been. At this time while the family has to come to terms with their loss, the Ministry of Education will ensure to do its part to aid all parties in coping through this unfortunate situation.”
