SPORTT submits unaudited 2018 financial statements to Ministries
The Sports Company of Trinidad and Tobago Limited (SPORTT) has submitted its six-month unaudited accounts for 2018 to the Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs (MSYA) and the Ministry of Finance. This follows the submission of its 2016 and 2017 financials.
“Since this current Board of Directors was constituted, it has been focused on rebuilding institutional discipline, compliance and strengthening its governance across the company. To be successful in achieving our mandate, for the benefit of sport, we must put the right structure, policies and behaviours in place,” said SporTT Chairman, Dinanath Ramnarine.
Both the 2016 and 2017 financials have been approved and subsequently laid in Parliament. Ramnarine added, “The approval and publication of the 2016 and 2017 financials, in addition to the submission of the six-month statements, is in keeping with SporTT’s commitment to becoming fully compliant with the requirements of the State Enterprises Performance Monitoring Manual, and its financial and reporting obligations to the MSYA, the Ministry of Finance and other key stakeholders.
“The Board has recognised that prudent financial management and good corporate governance are critical steps in our efforts to build a strong and sustainable company for the effective execution of our mandate. We thank our management team, led by our Chief Executive Officer, Jason Williams, for its continued diligence and efforts.”
