Schools re-opened following cleaning and sanitisation exercises
The Ministry of Education wishes to announce the re-opening of schools on Wednesday 25 thSeptember, 2019.
All schools except the San Juan North Secondary School will be open to receive students and facilitate curriculum delivery.
Minister of Education, the Honourable Anthony Garcia has commended the efforts and thanked all persons involved in the cleaning and sanitisation of all
schools affected by the passage of Tropical Storm Karen over the weekend.
The Minister stated, “I want to thank teachers, parents, the Regional Corporations and all stakeholders who came together to ensure that all our schools were back up and running. Though efforts were made to have the San Juan North Secondary School ready, the extensive flooding called for more work to be done than could be facilitated in the last two days.”
The Ministry also extends condolences to the family, loved ones, fellow teachers and students of Mr Garfield Gaye who tragically lost his life on Monday 23 rd September, 2019. Personnel of the Student Support Services Division of the Ministry, along with officers of the Employee Assistance Programme will be on site on Wednesday 25 th September to facilitate counselling for the staff and students of the school to which Mr Gaye was attached.
