Public Utilities Minister meets with IDB team
A high level IDB team met with Public Utilities Minister Senator Robert Le Hunte at the Ministry’s Head Office at St. Clair earlier today.
The talks centred around infrastructural and organizational development for the Water and Sewerage Authority. The team also discussed the development and implementation of solid waste treatment and recycling initiatives, as well as the use of technologies for converting waste into renewable energy sources.

The IDB has indicated a willingness to assist the Government with an assessment of the country’s current infrastructure, in a bid to arrive at the best long terms solutions for the benefit of the people of Trinidad and Tobago.
Discussions also focused on measures that can be implemented to reduce the high levels of non- revenue water(NRW) being experienced throughout WASA’s distribution system.
The IDB team was led by Jose Augustin Aguerre, IDB Manager for Infrastructure and the Energy Sector. The Ministry’s team included Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of Public Utilities, Honourable Adrian Leonce, and members of the management teams of WASA, and the Solid Waste Management Company, SWMCOL.
Following the meeting, the team undertook a tour of the Malabar Waste Water Treatment Plant.
