Project Completion from demolition to construction of car park; Ministry of Planning and Development receives keys
The Honourable Camille Robinson-Regis, Minister of Planning and Development announces the project completion of the demolition of the former Central Statistical Office (CSO) building for the construction of a temporary car park. Today, November 28th, 2018, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Planning and Development, Mrs. Joanne Deoraj received the keys on behalf of the Ministry from Dr. Jeffrey Reyes, Chairman of the East Port of Spain Development Company Limited, which served as the project managers.
The car park, located at the corner of Independence Square and Edward Street, Port of Spain is a modest facility with a 93 by 120 feet dimension outfitted for holding up to 25 vehicles with spacing catered for SUVs and Pickup trucks, including two spots for persons with disabilities. The carpark has one point for entry and exit located on Edward Street, the minor of the two major roads accounting for vehicular traffic considerations. In total, the project from demolition of the old CSO building to construction of the carpark cost $3,720,003.00.
The parking lot currently holds the keen interest of Ministry of Planning and Development as the proposed future site of that Ministry’s permanent office building.
