Point Lisas Desalination Plant restarted
The Water and Sewerage Authority (the Authority) advises customers in parts of Central and South Trinidad, who have been affected by the recent unplanned shutdown at the Desalcott owned and operated Point Lisas Desalination Plant, that operation was restarted at the facility at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday 4th December 2018 at a flow rate of ten million imperial gallons daily (10 mgd).
Repair work is continuing and production will be increased incrementally to full production of 40 mgd as this work is completed.
The Authority will continue to re-distribute water supplies from its Caroni and Navet Water Treatment Plants to supplement the flows from the Desalination Plant until full production is achieved.
Customers in the affected areas are again encouraged to manage their water use efficiently, since it may take up to twenty-four (24) hours for the pipe borne water supply schedules to normalize to some affected areas, as operation of the Plant is regularized.
For further information or assistance, customers are encouraged to contact WASA’s Customer Call Centre toll free at 800-4420/26.
The Authority thanks customers for their patience and understanding during this disruption in service.
