Ongoing stabilization and rehabilitation works at Morgan Lane, Laventille
Senator the Honourable Rohan Sinanan, Minister of Works and Transport, and Member of Parliament for Laventille West, The Honourable Fitzgerald Hinds and Councillor for the area Ms. Adana Griffith Gordon, conducted a site visit of ongoing stabilization and rehabilitation works at Morgan Lane, Laventille.
The road infrastructure in this community was affected by a faulty WASA line which deteriorated the slope over a period of two years. As a result, the area also experienced severe landslides and damage to houses, forcing residents in the area to relocate. To address this, remedial works have begun and will include:
1. Stabilization of the failed embankment and the reinstatement of the existing carriageway.
2. Upgrade of drainage infrastructure to facilitate storm-water runoff.
The Ministry anticipates that this project will be completed within a two-month timeframe. The project will be executed by the Programme for Upgrading Roads Efficiency (PURE) Division of the Ministry of Works and Transport.
