National Security Minister hands over land to Police Service Social and Welfare Association
Today, December 21, 2018, Minister of National Security the Honourable Stuart R. Young, M.P., on behalf of the Government of Trinidad and Tobago, handed over a parcel of land in Carapichaima that is being leased to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service Social and Welfare Association (TTPSSWA), to facilitate the establishment of the Association’s Head Office.
In addressing attendees at the Ceremonial Handover, Minister Young said that he was proud to be given the responsibility by Cabinet to present this gift of land to the TTPSSWA, especially as the Association has been requesting a site for their Head Office since its inception in 1992.
Minister Young explained that in his first week as Minister of National Security, he reached out to the President of the TTPSSWA Mr Michael Seales to get to know of the Association’s needs. The Minister stated, “In less than four months of me being in office as Minister of National Security, this Government has delivered a home to the most deserving Trinidad and Tobago Police Service Social and Welfare Association.”
Minister Young noted that the new site will provide all necessities for members of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service and a safe home for officers to relax, train and enjoy recreational facilities. He also called on the private sector to assist the Association to reach their developmental goals.
President of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service Social and Welfare Association Inspector Michael Seales expressed thanks to Minister Young for giving the Association a place to call home. He noted that all five requests from the Association to the Minister when he assumed office have now been actioned, including now the provision of a Head Office.
The Minister encouraged citizens to support the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service, especially as the public counts on the organization to provide a safe and secure environment during the holiday season and beyond. He also assured the Association that the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service has his full support in carrying out their duties under the parameters of the law.
The Ceremonial Handover of land took place this morning at the site of the TTPSSWA’s grounds, located at Brickfield Road and Waterloo Road, Carapichaima.
