MSYA advances to semi-finals in Inter-Ministerial Cricket Competition

October 6, 2016: In the quarter final round of the Inter-Ministerial Cricket Competition on Tuesday 4th October 2016, at Constantine Recreational Ground, Macoya, competition got heated as the Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs (MSYA) battled the Ministry of Works and Transport for a place in the semi-final round.

MSYA won the toss opting for Ministry of Works to bat first. The Ministry of Works and Transport secured 43 for 10 whilst the Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs upset them with a score of 44 for 5 in 8.3 overs, causing them to advance into the semi-final round.

The Honourable Darryl Smith, joined the team line up as he bowled and dove into action saving wickets. Among the standouts were Stephan Warwood bringing in 23 runs and Jahron Alfred with 3 for7, taking the most wickets.

MSYA will move on to the semi-final round to compete against the Ministry of Finance, on Tuesday 11th October 2016, Constantine Recreational Ground, Macoya at 7pm.

This is the fifth year for the Inter-ministerial cricket competition, which has been successful thus far. It has contributed to the enhanced lives of employees through recreation, sport and social interaction with various Ministries and has fostered healthy relations amongst members of Ministries. The National Sport Policy of Trinidad and Tobago also encourages physical activity, health and wellness, social integration and education.
