MOE executive team visits schools in Chaguanas

Senior Executives of the Ministry of Education (MOE) continue to provide hands on support to principals, teachers and school administrators to help in the effective management of their schools in order to ensure that students are offered the best quality of education in a safe and conducive environment.

The MOE team led by Honorable Anthony Garcia, Minister of Education and Dr. the Honourable Lovell Francis, accompanied by a team of School Supervisors, Curriculum Officers, Student Support Services Officers visited the Chaguanas South Secondary and California Government Primary Schools on Wednesday 20th February, 2019. TTUTA’s 2nd Vice President, Kyrla Robertson-Thomas was also part of the tours on Wednesday.

Meetings were held at both schools with the teachers and the entire student population to hear their challenges and suggestion so as to provide the relevant and timely interventions to address issues such as Infrastructure, School Based Management, Academic Performance and Discipline among other areas.

During discussions with principals, teachers and the administrative staff at the two institutions, Ministers, Anthony Garcia and Dr. Lovell Francis and Chief Education Officer, Harrilal Seecharan assured them that they will receive full cooperation and support from the Ministry of Education to address the various issues raised.

The main objective of the school visits by Senior Executives of the MOE is to interface with principals, teachers, students and other stakeholders and to discuss issues which directly affect them in their environment on a day to day basis.

Similar visits were made to schools in the Port of Spain & Environs and St. George East Education District, since the start of the school term on Monday 7th January, 2019. Representatives of the Trinidad & Tobago Teachers Association (TTUTA) and the National Parent Teachers Association (NPTA) are also part of the school visits.
