MoE and COSTAATT meet to discuss payment of stipend to nurses
A meeting was held among members of the Ministry of Education’s Executive Team and the President and Members of the Board of the College of Science Technology and Applied Arts of Trinidad and Tobago (COSTAATT) to discuss issues surrounding the financial situation impacting the College that led to the non-payment of stipends to nurses.
During the meeting, which took place on Thursday July 18, 2019 at the Education Towers, #5 St. Vincent Street, Port of Spain, COSTAAT sought to clarify the issue of instructions being given through the Ministry of Education to cease payment of stipends to nursing students which had been ventilated in the media.
Discussions also focussed on the Ministry’s directive to Agencies, Authorities and State Enterprises to reprioritize all available financial resources to meet critical recurrent and capital expenditure.
COSTAATT and the Ministry, subsequent to today’s meeting, have agreed to the review of COSTAATT’s financial allocations to ensure continued general operations.
Both the College of Science Technology and Applied Arts of Trinidad and Tobago and the Ministry of Education confirmed the need to work harmoniously to realize the goals and objectives of the education system.
