Ministry of Social Development and Family Services continues drive to share information on social services
“I was quite pleased to receive assistance from the Ministry’s polite and knowledgeable staff at this outreach,” remarked a participant at the recently concluded the Five Rivers District Office’s Information and Career Day. The Information and Career Day took place at the Five Rivers Community Centre, Arouca on Wednesday 14th March, 2018, and allowed various government agencies including the Ministry of Social Development and Family Services, an opportunity to promote and share information on its suite of grants and services at the community level.
Scores of residents of Arouca and surrounding communities were pleased to benefit from the interaction with Ministry personnel and were also happy to have some of their queries addressed. Other government agencies which attended and provided services at the Information and Career Day included, the Trinidad and Tobago Electricity Commission (T&TEC), The National Commission for Self Help Limited, MIC Institute of Technology, The National Training Agency and the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) among others.
In addressing the participating agencies and Ministries, at the Information and Career Day, Local Government Councillor, Tova Lin Bartholomew Sandy, expressed her gratitude to the participating agencies for their continued support and partnership and shared that the efforts were aimed at the enrichment of lives especially within the community.
The Ministry’s participation at this event formed part of the its commencement of World Social Work Day 2018 which is annually observed throughout the world on March 20th 2018. This years’ theme, ‘Promoting community and environmental sustainability,’ related to the Global Agenda for Social Work and Social Development. The Ministry of Social Development and Family Services was pleased to have participated in this initiative which was in keeping with its mandate to help, empower and transform lives.
