November 6, 2017: On October 19, 2017, the Social Displacement Unit of the Ministry of Social Development and Family Services responded to a report that Mr Wendell Joseph and Mrs Erica Joseph were occupying space at the Queens Park Savannah.

In response to the couples’ request for shelter during the visit, the Ministry of Social Development and Family Services offered alternative housing arrangements at its New Horizon or Hernandez Place Facilities. Additionally, they were offered psycho-social support and counselling through the Ministry’s National Family Services Division. Both offers were declined by the couple.

The Ministry of Social Development and Family Services wishes to also advise, that the Josephs are, at present, in receipt of financial support through the Ministry’s social safety net programmes and that it is committed to working with other relevant stakeholders in an effort to resolve the issues facing the family.
