Ministry signs agreement with FCB for new food support debit card
Though it has been in the pipelines for quite some time now, March 12, 2019 marked a significant milestone for the Ministry of Social Development and Family Services, as the contract was signed for a new and improved Debit Card for clients of the Ministry’s Food Support Programme.
The contract was signed by Permanent Secretary at the Ministry, Jacinta Bailey-Sobers and First Citizens Bank’s Deputy CEO, Jason Julien, during a brief ceremony, at the Ministry’s Head Office, St Vincent Street, Port of Spain. PS Bailey-Sobers indicated that the new debit card is part and parcel of the Ministry’s efforts to improve delivery to the food support clients as the Ministry continues in its transformation mode for service excellence.
She expressed gratitude to the FCB Team and the Ministry’s internal Team for the work that went into producing the new Card which she anticipates will be in the hands of clients in the near future. FCB’s Jason Julien indicated that FCB continues to welcome the Ministry as a strategic partner and looks forward to the implementation of this initiative. He also expressed FCB’s commitment to ensuring that quality standards and service are maintained, as the bank continues to exceed and deliver on its promise of putting people first.
Among other things, the new Debit Card will seek to improve the Ministry’s targeting mechanism and service delivery for access to food support by the vulnerable.
The signing was witnessed by Deputy Permanent Secretary (Ag.) at the Ministry, Vijay Gangapersad, Ray Gopaul, Manager, Business Development and Analytics at First Citizens Bank, Troy Pollonais, the Director(Ag) Social Welfare Division and Legal Officer, Savita Birbal.
Representatives from the Ministry of the Attorney General’s Office as well as other key staff of the Ministry were also present at the signing.
