Ministry of Health Launches Healthy Schools Initiative
As part of the Healthy Schools Initiative, Minister of Health, the Honourable Terrence Deyalsingh, will visit the Fyzabad Anglican Secondary School for an afternoon of physical activity with the students.
WHAT: The Healthy Schools Initiative aims to promote behaviour change in children and adolescents. One activity arising out of this initiative involves visits from public figures to schools for the purpose of encouraging physical activity and the consumption of healthy foods by children. Members of the media are cordially invited to attend and provide coverage of this event.
WHEN: Wednesday 29th November, 2017 at 12:30 p.m. (All representatives of the media are advised to be set up by 12:15 p.m.)
WHERE: Fyzabad Anglican Secondary School Guapo Road Fyzabad
WHY: Decreasing the burden of NCDs must be driven by behaviour change from members of our population, particularly our children and adolescents.
Through the adoption of healthy diets, coupled with recommended physical activity, we can curb the NCD epidemic in future generations. Furthermore, children and youth can be powerful change agents in the home and encourage their family members to adopt healthy lifestyles.
