Ministry of Health finalist at IDB President's Award for Service Excellence and Innovation in the Public Sector
The Ministry of Health's Directorate of Women's Health was a finalist at this year's IDB President's Award for Service Excellence and Innovation in the Public Sector.
The event which was held on December 3, 2019 at the Cipriani College of Labour and Co-operative Studies saw competitive entries from a number of public sector organisations with the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service coming out the eventual winner.
The Directorate's achievement was based on the accelerated improvement in maternal and neonatal health through a number of evidence based, creative and data driven interventions including the implementation of the Perinatal Information System, new contraceptives, training, as well as over 60 new clinical guidelines and patient information articles.
Trinidad and Tobago has now achieved the Regional and Global Targets for Maternal and Neonatal Health for the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) since 2018 and continuing, 12 years ahead of schedule.
