Minister Webster-Roy requests report from Children’s Authority following an article in the Trinidad Express

March 10, 2017: Reference is made to an article published in the Trinidad Express of March 9, 2017 entitled Safiya’s Conflict. The Honourable Ayanna Webster-Roy, Minister of State in the Office of the Prime Minister and other Officials at the Office of the Prime Minister (Gender and Child Affairs) are deeply concerned about the issues raised in the Trinidad Express.

The Minister has requested a comprehensive report from the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Children’s Authority on the issues raised in the press. Pending receipt of the Report of the Chairman, the Office of the Prime Minister will investigate the matter. The Government remains committed to ensuring the delivery of the necessary care and protection of all children in Trinidad and Tobago.
