Minister Cudjoe meets with TTOC
Port of Spain, July 10, 2019: The Honourable Shamfa Cudjoe, Minister of Sport and Youth Affairs, along with senior officials from the Ministry, presented a cheque valued at $2 Million to the Trinidad and Tobago Olympic Committee (TTOC) towards participation at the 2019 Pan American Games in Lima, Peru.
These funds will assist with the airfare and accommodation for the athletes, as well as the World Anti-Doping Agency’s (WADA) compliance related matters.
The 2019 Pan American Games will take place from July 26 – August 11, 2019 and includes over 6,700 athletes from 41 different countries who will participate in 39 sports and 61 disciplines, of which 22 disciplines are qualifiers for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
Prior to the cheque presentation, which took place at the Ministry’s Head Office in St. Clair, Minister Cudjoe and TTOC President Brian Lewis held preliminary discussions on the logistics of the 2021 Commonwealth Youth Games, which included the formation of a local organizing committee to oversee the co-ordination and management of the Games.
