Minister Cox meets with the Board of NALIS and visits Exhibition
Senator the Honourable Donna Cox, Minister of Communications, had the pleasure of meeting with the Board members of the National Library and Information System Authority (NALIS) on Friday January 31, 2020. She commended them on the work they have been doing with regard to the co-location of libraries around Trinidad and Tobago. She was able to receive updates on impending projects such as the construction of the Diego Martin and Toco libraries.
The Board, chaired by Mr. Neil Parsanlal, also took the opportunity to share their concerns with Minister Cox and highlighted the need for additional staff, in keeping with the expanded role of
NALIS, which will see libraries being established at MYLAT, MYPART and the Women’s Prison.
Minister Cox also used the occasion to visit two exhibitions in the Atrium of the National Library. The exhibitions are a religious exhibition coordinated by the Caribbean Dawah Association on Islam and the “See Lots of Imagery Photography and Art Workshop Exhibition” put on by the Roots Foundation in collaboration with NALIS.
The “See Lots of Imagery Photography and Art Workshop Exhibition” exhibition, which was first launched on January 11 at the Sea Lots Community and Impact Centre, and then mounted at the National Library on January 20, is a culmination of a six-week workshop conducted by the ROOTS Foundation’s Office in Chaguanas with some members of the Sea Lots Police Youth Club. It showcases the photographs of 12 workshop participants, between the ages 11 to 18 years old from the Sea Lots area. Minister Cox offered her Ministry’s continued support towards the development of youths.
