Lord Superior set to perform on Nelson Island

Andrew Marcano, 'Lord Superior'

October 9, 2017: The National Trust of Trinidad and Tobago will host its third annual Vintage Calypso on Nelson Island on Saturday October 21st, 2017 from 3:00pm to 7:00pm at the Nelson Island Heritage Site. This event is in commemoration of Calypso History Month and features Lord Superior with supporting acts which include Lord Relator, GB, Poser, Lady Adanna and Abebele.

Andrew Marcano, sobriquet “Lord Superior” is a multi-talented artiste who began singing calypso at the age of 16 at the Victory Calypso Tent, Port of Spain and later at the Young Brigade Calypso Tent with fellow calypsonians Mighty Sparrow and King Fighter. His contributions to calypso have paved the way for many in the fraternity. He was the first calypsonian to produce a record on his own record label; the first to perform at the Madison Square Gardens, New York, USA and the first to produce a full length calypso musical.

Lord Superior celebrated his Diamond Jubilee in 2014, and was awarded the Hummingbird Medal Silver in 2015. This year, he will receive an Honorary Doctors of Letters (DLitt) at the 2017 graduation ceremony at University of the West Indies, St Augustine Campus.

Tickets are available at the National Trust of Trinidad and Tobago’s Office, 68-70 Sackville Street, Port of Spain, San Fernando Water Taxi Terminal and the Port of Spain Water Taxi Terminal.
