The Honourable AG meets with representatives of the CAF Development Bank of Latin America
The Honourable Attorney General and Minister of Legal Affairs, Mr. Faris Al Rawi M.P., held a meeting on February 7, 2020 with Mr. Gianpiero Leoncini, Director Representative, Ms. Cateryn Vucina, Principal Executive and Ms. Carole Lewis, Executive, of the CAF Development Bank of Latin America, with regard to initiatives towards improving transparency in the public sector including campaign finance, managing the private sector and prospective work with the CAF Development Bank for digital innovation in the public service.
They held discussions on a number of areas including collaboration with the CAF and the Government of Trinidad and Tobago for a 2020 Seminar on “Integrity in Public Policy” in order to present and discuss the main findings of the CAF flagship report on keys to prevent corruption. The Seminar will address the crucial findings of the CAF Report, which identifies best practices in Latin America with regard to (1) control mechanisms; (2) political campaigns and civil service recruitment; (3) transparency mechanisms and participation; and (4) dealing with private sector interests. Also present at the meeting were Mrs. Vyana Sharma, Ms. Simone Grant and Mr. Raymond Jack Gatcliffe, of the Ministry of the Attorney General and Legal Affairs.
