Garcia Assures CSEC and CAPE Results to be Delivered
August 20, 2017: The Honourable Anthony Garcia, Minister of Education, assures all principals, teachers, parents and candidates that all efforts are being made to ensure access to the 2017 May/June Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination (CAPE) and Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) results. The Ministry has been made aware of challenges to accessing these results and has since been working diligently with the Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC) in Barbados to rectify this situation. The Minister, with the support of the Chief Education Officer and the Examinations Division have been collectively working through the weekend to ensure access.
The Minister today acknowledged an understanding of the importance of these results for students to continue on in their academic journey, be it to Sixth Form or tertiary education. Candidates who wrote CAPE examinations in May/June 2017 were able to access their results on Friday 18th August, 2017 while most CSEC candidates were able to access their results on Saturday 19th August, 2017. Principals now also have access to the results online.
Clarification also has to be given, that the Ministry of Education Trinidad and Tobago does not manage the websites for release of CXC results. These portals are managed by the Caribbean Examinations Coucil and any challenges that are faced by nationals of Trinidad and Tobago in accessing their results are communicated to the Council by the Ministry.
The Minister of Education reiterated his commitment to the delivery of these results, from the Caribbean Examinations Council in the fastest possible time to meet with the deadlines that principals and candidates may be facing.
