Delayed departure of the M.V. Cabo Star and Jean De La Valette from Port of Spain on Tuesday 23rd June 2020
The Management of the Trinidad and Tobago Inter-island Transportation Company Limited (TTIT) wishes to advise the travelling public and other port users that the departure of the M.V. Cabo Star, originally scheduled to depart at 2.00 pm and, the Jean De La Valette, originally scheduled to depart at 4.00 pm on Tuesday 23rd June was delayed. This was a direct result of protest action taken by daily rated workers assigned to the Ferry Operations.
The Trinidad and Tobago Inter-Island Transportation Company Limited fully respects the enshrined right of its employees to engage in action in furtherance of legitimate concerns and work-related issues.
As an Organization, with responsibility for the reliable and safe provision of a Ferry service between Trinidad and Tobago, we are committed to meeting the legitimate expectations of our passengers, Crew and other Stakeholder groups who depend on the Inter-Island Ferry Service.
The Company has enlisted the services of the Trinidad and Tobago Coast Guard to enable and assure the safe unmooring and departure of both Ferries destined for Tobago.
At present and continuing, the Management of the Company is engaging with Employees with a commitment to addressing the major issues contributing to the work stoppage. We remain confident that we can return to normalcy in the shortest possible time.
