Affirmative Action for National Development
June 22, 2016: In keeping with the mandate of the National Tripartite Advisory Council, the Council held its 4th meeting on Tuesday 7th June 2016. The meeting was hosted at the main office of the Ministry of Planning and Development. The Councils meeting agenda focused on mandate items:
1) Effective implementation of Vision 2030 (Government Policy) and
2) Enhancing the level of productivity in all sectors of national endeavour
The President of Petroleum Company of Trinidad and Tobago (Petrotrin) Mr Fitzroy Harewood presented an overview of the oil and gas sector to the Council, chaired by the Hon. Camille Robinson Regis.
The Council also began discussions on Vision 2030. The Ministry of Planning and Development’s team tasked with developing the plan gave an overview of the draft Vision 2030 National Strategic Plan Development Process. The Council presented recommendations to the team to further enhance national development in a global perspective. The team assured that Vision 2030 plan is well within the set completion time frame of June 30th for Cabinet’s deliberations. As such it is expected to guide the Government’s 2016/2017 budgetary presentation.
Minister Robinson Regis in her closing remarks thanked the Council for their earnest inputs into the Vision 2030 plan. Minister was most confident that through continued tripartite relations the Vision 2030 plan will be “excitable and implementable” while bringing forth meaningful impact to national development.
The next meeting of the Council is carded for July 5th 2016, where the Labour representatives will present on productivity.
